Salary: $110,171.00 – $110,172.00

Client is seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to join their team.

Your Responsibilities

As Intellectual Property Counsel you will provide research, analysis, recommendations, and advice regarding complex intellectual property legal questions and issues. In addition, you will:

• Draft, negotiate, counsel on, and file legal documents, including patent applications, responses to USPTO office actions, opinions, contracts, memos, and registrations
• Assist senior attorneys in analyzing issues to identify legal problems, research applicable laws and practices, and formulate solutions and counsel
• Review legal documents for compliance with applicable laws
• Stay current on emerging trends in the law through continuing legal education, reading, professional conferences, and participating in professional associations

What Skills You Need

• Ability to apply intellectual property law to an area of responsibility, and identify and counsel on intellectual property issues
• Ability to research, analyze, and counsel on identified legal issues
• Ability to manage and advise on risk within areas of specialization and responsibility
• Effective interpersonal communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
• Effective writing skills, including grammar, persuasion, and style
• 1 – 3 years of legal experience in a corporate, law firm, or government environment

• Experience with the legal management of the development, maintenance, and leveraging of an intellectual property portfolio
• Experience with providing research and legal counsel on complex intellectual property legal questions and issues
• Experience managing projects relating to intellectual property, competitive intelligence, client education, and contracts
• Experience with patent preparation and prosecution in the electrical arts in the US and outside the US

Education

Ideally, you will have the following:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent degree
• USPTO registeration as a patent attorney
• Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree, with a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science, or experience drafting patent applications in these areas
